Cobham News Editor16 May 2015 - 20:21

Exciting times ahead with football at the heart of opportunity....

Cobham have agreed a partnership programme with the Guy Mascolo Football Charity.

Guy and Anthony Mascolo were the founders of the successful Toni & Guy hairdressing group. The Guy Mascolo Football Charity was formed after Guys sad passing in 2009. Under the leadership of the Chief Executive, Allan Hogg, the Charity has grown to become one of the most effective football charities in the country supporting 800 children and young people every week through football coaching, matches and educational projects.

The Charity aims to provide young people the opportunity to use football as a way of honing personal skills, taking enjoyment in the game and also works to provide pathways in to employment through sport.
The partnership will see players coming through the charity and joining the new reserve team at Cobham.

Errol Bignall, the Cobham FC Welfare Officer and also the Goal Getter Project Director at the Charity, will be managing the reserve team supported by long time Hammers stalwart Johnny Heath.
Errol said 'not only will our reserve team be able to offer players who have been supported by the Guy Mascolo Charity an opportunity to show they can make it in to the Cobham first team, the club will also be providing work experience opportunities from coaching to social media work as a means for giving them something to gain valuable transferable skills and also a pathway in to employment.'

Cobham Chairman Dave Tippetts and President Joe Camilleri and other club officials were joined on Saturday at the club by one of the Guy Mascolo Trustees, Flora Mascolo along with Errol, Laurence Batty and other GMFC officials to kick off the partnership ahead of the new season.
